By Correspondent

TEZPUR, Dec 1 -Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health and Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed an election rally each at Tezpur today.

Addressing a mammoth gathering at a rally at Kawoimari Potiapukuri near here, the Chief Minister sharply criticised the Congress, AGP and the AIUDF. He said that their secret understanding is an unholy relation. In the name of foreigners issues, these forces are causing chaos and confusion among the people. He alleged that these forces have never done any good work. He also said that this secret understanding of the AGP with forces like the AIUDF and Congress, can never be a good sign for the future of the State.

Reiterating that the Assam government is going ahead on the developmental path with the support of the people of both the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, he criticised the act of instigation of a section of youth by some influential forces to join the ULFA. Sonowal vowed that the growing activities of the ULFA would be put down with an iron hand. Urging the people to cast their votes for the saffron party in the ensuing panchayat poll, he said that BJP is always for the development of the common people and if it comes to power in the panchayats, it would definitely deliver a good and transparent local self governance system to the people. The election rally was attended by Tezpur MP, RP Sharma, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Dhekiajuli MLA, Ashok Singhal, Tezpur MLA, Rajen Barthakur, State BJP secretary, Kishor Upadhyay, general secretary, State Tea Cell of BJP, Jitu Kishan among others.

In Tezpur, the Health and Finance Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma addressing an election rally said that in the last Assembly election, the BJP gave the Tezpur constituency to the AGP only because of the good relationship between the two and for which the regional party should be grateful to the BJP. Maintaining that relation, the AGP should extend its helping hand to the saffron party to come to the power in the panchayats for materialising developmental work at the grassroots. Dr Sarma said that the regional party which is in alliance with the BJP was recovered from a moribund state by the BJP, so it does have any moral right to go against the BJP. Urging the people of Tezpur LAC to give a mandate to the saffron party, he maintained that apart from the BJP, no other party can provide good governance to the people. In his speech, he too criticised the AGP, AIUDF and the Congress saying in the present-day scenario, they are not very different in nature and their only guardian is AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal.
