GUWAHATI, March 29 - The 14th conference of Inland Water Transport Workers� Union was held on March 26 and 27 here. It was presided over by union�s president Dharma Kanta Das who hoisted the flag to commence the proceedings.
The delegate session was inaugurated by Assam State Employees Federation's former secretary Manindra Swarnakar.
Around 400 delegates and 35 units of the union across the State attended the session. General secretary Ambika Charan Baishya placed the secretary's report which was discussed during the session and later accepted.
Anil Dutta was elected as the president of the new 70 - member executive committee of the union, while Ambika Baishya retained the general secretary's post for the next three years.
In the open session, Gargaram Talukdar, joint convenor, Joint Council of Trade Union, delivered a lecture on privatisation and contractualisation.
