MANGALDAI, June 17 - The unruly activities of a section of drivers and conductors of private passenger vehicles running along the NH-15 across Mangaldai have constantly irked commuters.

In an incident on Thursday, the conductor of a passenger bus (AS 25 AC 9714) assaulted the officer in charge of the Mangaldai Police Station Traffic Branch, Mantu Kumar Bora, after the bus was found parked illegally in the middle of the National Highway, causing traffic snarls during the peak hours.

The guilty conductor, identified as Rubul Ali (47) of Mohipul village in Baihata Chariali, even failed to produce his identity card. The accused was today arrested and produced before the court.

It may be mentioned here that illegal parking, rash driving, misbehaviour with passengers, overloading and violation of traffic rules by some drivers and conductors of passenger buses plying on the national highway have been reported on a regular basis.
