By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 6 - Following numerous complaints regarding the deplorable condition of National Highway 37, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal travelled from Dibrugarh to Kaziranga by road yesterday. Expressing his displeasure over the appalling condition of NH-37, Sonowal called on the company and contractors engaged in repairing of the National Highway to complete the repairing works within stipulated timeframe.

Sonowal said that there have been numerous complaints from the public along with the political representatives regarding the deplorable condition of NH-37 and it has been highlighted in the media as well.

Though NHIDCL engaged contractors to repair the highway, their failure to complete repair works within stipulated time has caused a lot of inconvenience to the public, Sonowal said.

At Kaziranga, Sonowal issued a series of instructions to the Kaziranga National Park authority and the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Golaghat and Nagaon to ensure safety and security to the animals in the park during monsoon season. Chairing a high level meeting at the Assam Police Guest House at Kohora Range of Kaziranga National Park on Tuesday, Chief Minister Sonowal also reviewed the progress of the highlands and asked the park authority to complete creating the highlands on war footing for the animals to take shelter during flood.

Sonowal also reviewed the anti-poaching measures that the park authority has taken so far. He also took stock of the facilities provided to the forest guards and other employees of the Kaziranga National Park.
