GUWAHATI, Oct 14 - The Assam unit of All India Peoples Science Network (AIPSN) has mourned the death of Prof GD Agarwalla and condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the Union Government in forwarding his Save Ganga Movement, which resulted in the death of the internationally-famed environmental scientist.

Prof Agarwalla died at Hrishikesh on October 11 last on the 111th day of his indefinite fast for conservation of the Ganga.

Prof Agarwalla had earlier compelled the Government to revoke its decision to block the natural flow of the Bhagirathi in 2013 and played a major role in preparation of the countrys legislation on preventing water contamination. He also made immense contribution towards making the people aware of the issues concerning environment conservation.
