GUWAHATI, March 4 � A day-long National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR)-State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Conclave 2015 was held at the NIRDPR campus, Khanapara yesterday.
Directors and senior officers from all SIRDs of the North-East region participated in the conclave, which was conducted to strengthen the common mandate of various rural development agencies in the region, stated a press release.
Dr RM Pant, Director of NIRDPR-NERC, welcomed the delegates attending the conclave.
Founder Director of NIRD-NERC Dr BP Maithani chaired the conclave with Dr N Upadhyay, former Director, NIRD-NERC, as co-chair.
Presentations were made by SIRD directors of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim and Tripura.
In their presentations, representatives from these states briefed the delegates about the progress of various rural development schemes.
Representatives from NIRDPR, Hyderabad, Dr VK Reddy and Dr RP Achari interacted with the functionaries from different states and enquired about the extent of completion of NIRDPR funded schemes.
A joint action plan was agreed upon to accelerate implementation of rural development schemes with better efficiency and better implementation among all sstate SIRDs and NIRDPR.
On the occasion, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was also unveiled.
