Conclave on academic integrity, plagiarism held

GUWAHATI, Sept 27 - The National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, in association with TurnitIndia Education Pvt Ltd, held a conclave on academic integrity and plagiarism at the university premises yesterday, a press release stated today.

Over 100 academicians and scholars from all over the North East took part in the event that focused on the urgent need to curb malpractices in research. Addressing the event, Maninder Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Government of Assam, assured cooperation from the government and said that universities would be directed to adhere to anti-plagiarism rules issued by the UGC.

NLUJAA Vice Chancellor Prof JS Patil, IIIT Guwahati Director Prof Gautam Barua, Prof Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya, dean of academic affairs at Tezpur University, Prof Sanjay Kumar Singh, head of the Department of Library & Information Science at Gauhati University, Dr Topi Basar, associate professor at NLUJAA and Royal Global University Vice Chancellor Dr SP Singh took part in the discussion.

TurnitIndia Education Pvt Ltd, which deals with anti-plagiarism software, presented the technical nuances of policy making to achieve a culture of academic integrity along with an insight into anti-plagiarism tools and techniques.

The event, organised by the NLUJAA Library, was conducted by Assistant Librarian Dr Kankana Baishya.
