HENGBUNG, July 4 - The Joint Secretary (Northeast) of Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Satyendra Garg, on Monday expressed serious concern over the prevailing �unrest� in Manipur.
Garg was here to inaugurate seven-day training on commercial floriculture at the Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS), Krishi Vigyan Kendra complex, about 55 km north of Imphal in Manipur�s Senapati district.
�Manipur has many problems as the people are facing bandhs, economic blockade, etc. But I am sure there is a way out to talk to the people addressing the issue and negotiating with them,� Garg said on the sideline of the inaugural function.
Responding to a question, he said, in a democratic set up, the idea is that everybody should be heard.
PCI team in Imphal: A three-member Press Council of India (PCI) sub-committee led by Ravindra Kumar arrived here on Monday on a two-day visit to the State. The other two members are CK Nayak and Kosuri Amarnath.
The Director of Information and Public Relations, Meghachandra Kongbam, and members of All Manipur Working Journalists� Union received them at the Imphal International Airport on their arrival.
The purpose of the sub-committee is to evolve guidelines for the media and security forces on reporting in conflict situations in Northeast India.
