Concern over threat to Koch-Rajbongshi community

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Dec 1 - Biswajit Ray faction of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) today expressed apprehension of attacks on its community by miscreants before or after the forthcoming Assembly polls.

Since strong forces are opposing the grant of ST status to six indigenous communities and threating them with dire consequences, Ray felt a threat to his community living in the western part of the State where these forces are active.

Referring to the killings of Adivasis and Muslims in the past few years in lower Assam districts, Ray said his community might be the next target of these forces if the government does not take the issue seriously.

Condemning the attack on two innocent persons by miscreants in Namrup, Ray called upon his people to be alert against these forces.

A fresh agitation for ST status and on Kamatapur demand would be launched from January and the student body is planning to go against the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly polls in the State because of BJPs double standard.
