GUWAHATI, May 5 � The Kamrup Chamber of Commerce has asked the civic authorities not to shift hawkers from SS Road to HB Road.
�...HB Road/Jail Road is mostly surrounded by residential area and Kedar Road, linked with this road, is also mostly residential... As such, if any hawkers market is established on the roadside of Jail Road/HB Road, this may be dangerous in case of natural calamities like earthquake, etc., because in such cases, the entire road may be jammed with hawkers and the only open area in jail where the safety of inhabitants is possible, will be jeopardized... the opening of hawkers market at HB Road/Jail Road may be dangerous,� it said in a statement.
