Concern over Pritam murder probe process

GUWAHATI, Aug 16 � Expressing concern over the slow pace of investigation into the murder of young research scholar Pritam Bhattacharjee, the Justice for Pritam Forum has alleged that the Bihar Chief Minister failed to respond to a formal correspondence from the Assam Chief Minister calling for a CBI probe into the incident.

�The Bihar Chief Minister has failed to respond to or take action on the formal correspondence sent to him by his Assam counterpart in his letterhead. The reference to the letter is DO No. CMS 93/2012/7 August 9, 2012,� Saumya Purkayastha of Justice for Pritam Forum said in a statement.

Several other organisations have also sent letters to the Chief Ministers of Assam and Bihar. The CBI probe demand has been supported by the All Assam Students� Union, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Teachers Associations, various colleges, public representatives, social activists like Akhil Gogoi, India Against Corruption (Guwahati unit) and many others.
