Concern over menace of spurious drugs

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, March 26 The Departmentally-related Standing Committee of the State Assembly on Health and Family Welfare has expressed concern over the menace of spurious drugs. It has called for preventive measures to do away with the menace.

In its report, the Standing Committee has observed that the Drug Inspectors should be made responsible and steps should be taken to see that they do their duties honestly.

The Committee has observed with alarm that there is a mushroom growth of private medical institutions, nursing homes and health care centres which are drawing experts and good doctors from the Government Medical Colleges. This factor has caused deterioration in the services rendered in the Government institutions. The committee, therefore, suggested a proper legislation to control and regulate haphazard growth of private medical institutions and nursing homes, etc.
