Concern over irregularity of doctors at railway hospital

By ANN Service

LUMDING, Dec 2 - The Railway employees of Dakshin Lumding, mainly the inhabitants of New Colony and South Hill Colony have expressed deep concern over the apathy of the Railway authority regarding the medical facilities for the employees along with their kith and kin at the Railway Hospital at New Colony.

As a matter of fact, there is a Central Hospital (Railway) in the Upper Babu Patty of Lumding and a unit of the hospital at New Colony. Nowadays, no doctor is attending the patients of this hospital. There is a doctors bungalow lying vacant in front of the hospital where previously many efficient doctors resided permanently and attended to patients during emergencies and at night hours too. At present, on rare occasions a doctor attends the hospital.

In case of serious illnesses or any accidents during night, employees become helpless as there is no other conveyance except autorikshaw which are also not available during the dead of the night. As there were efficient doctors previously in the locality, patients were directed to the main hospital for admission during night with the help of ambulance from the main hospital. People were proud of this hospital where they got regular services of efficient doctors.

The condition of this hospital, at present, is so wretched which can hardly be exaggerated. The people (Railway employees) have urged the authority concerned to take necessary steps so that the they are not denied the services of doctors in this hospital.
