GAURIPUR, Feb 28 - Attani Police Outpost under Gauripur PS in Dhubri district was established in 2011 without much infrastructure facilities. The police outpost is located in an abandoned building of the Parbatjoar Zamindary Estate which is in a very dilapidated state. There is no boundary wall around the outpost for protection as a result of which anti-social and anti-national elements can easily sneak into the outpost. The condition of the residential houses of the staff are also in bad shape. There are no proper lavatory arrangements for them. Lack of pure drinking water is another problem for the staff members. There is also no generator in the outpost.
Presently there are one SI, one ASI, one Havildar, one Nayak and five constables including a woman constable. There is also a small battalion. They have to cover 36 villages including Baniamari Pt. I, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, Sadhubhasa Pt. I, II, III, and IV, Piajbari Pt. I and Pt. II, Kaunmari, Dalameralgah Pt. I and II. There is also a vehicle but that too is not sufficient to cover the area as most of the roads are in bad shape.
While visiting the outpost, this correspondent found that four bighas of land had been allotted for the outpost but that too is seen vacant. The entire area is severely affected by flood of the river Tipkai and the outpost remains under knee-deep water during the time of flood. Erosion of the river near the outpost poses serious threat but no measures for protection have been taken up by the government.
People of the area have demanded early construction of houses in the allotted land for the outpost and provide necessary staff and equipment for maintaining peace and harmony in the entire area.
