Concern over depleting forest cover in Kampur

By Correspondent

KAMPUR, Oct 12 Although there is dearth of forest cover in Kampur town and its suburban areas, there is ample scope for planting tree saplings over the length and breadth of the interior area of Kampur Revenue Circle area which if utilised properly for plantation of valuable trees would go a long way in maintaining ecological balance of the earth which is the need of the hour.

Mentionably, the Barpathar Reserve Forest area in between Baithalangso and Kampur was once a habitat of different kinds of flora and fauna which are no more, due to increased human activities in the nearby areas. With the passage of the days the entire Barpathar forest area has been destroyed and people of the nearby areas have occupied the entire Barpathar Reserve Forest, although there are forest camps to protect the valuable trees, animals birds etc.

If forests are demolished in such a way, elephants, tigers and such other animals would become aggressive leading to conflict with humans.
