Concern at crime against women

GUWAHATI, April 21 - The Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association (GSCA), at its meeting held today with DN Chakravartty in the chair, expressed serious concern at the growing incidence of crimes against women in the country and appealed to the general public and the younger generation in particular to create a climate of social justice and intellectual advancement.

The Association decided to take out a procession from the Lakshmidhar Bora Kshetra near Dighalipukhuri at 11 am on April 29 to create public awareness for the safety of women.

Chakravartty, in his speech, explained the genesis of the Bihu festival and described it as the most unique festival not only in the country but also in the entire world.

Member in charge of administration and coordination, Baneswar Khound, in his report, dwelt on the Association�s activities and referred to the programmes to be undertaken in the coming months.

Durgacharan Bhagawati and Hemchandra Sarma presented Bihu songs on the occasion.
