Computerization of land records incomplete

By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 6 Performance audit on the computerization of land records in Assam by the Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) revealed that the computerization could not be fully operationalised in the State even after nine years of taking up the pilot project.

Further, the Revenue and Disaster Management Department (R&DMD) is yet to fully comply with the system requirement specification of the software.

The CAG found that as a result of limitations of the software, database and system designing, cross referencing of date in various fields, detecting of errors/blanks in database, generation of different types of certificates, convertibility of land area into metric unit etc., were not possible.

Besides, delays in data entry and completion of training programme hampered the completion of the project in accordance with the specified time schedule and even the security system installed was not fool proof, the performance audit report said.

The R&DMD introduced Dharitree software for the computerization of land records in Assam.
