GUWAHATI, Sept 8 - State Revenue Minister Pallab Lochan Das today said the government will soon have an exclusive complaint redressal mechanism to settle all land related disputes including encroachment and land grabbing. Replying to a call attention raised by BJP legislator Ramendra Narayan Kalita at the State Assembly on the need for having a land policy, Das said like other emergency services, the set up will be mandated to take prompt action against any illegal acts.

Das also informed the House that the government is considering introduction of a separate revenue service to look into different land-related issues. As far as land policy is concerned, the same can be done once the final report of the HS Brahma Committee is submitted, Das added. Despite the existence of multiple laws to regulate land, irregularities galore in the Revenue Department, especially when it comes to the use of agricultural land in the State, the Minister stated.
