Complaint lodged over tweet on Ahom King

By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, June 18 - A police complaint has been lodged at Dibrugarh Sadar PS here against one Garga Chatterjee, reportedly an Assistant Professor of a known institute in Kolkata, for reportedly seeking to perpetuate communal chauvinism in the State here through his divisive tweets on his Twitter handle, @GargaC.

Garga in his tweet has termed the State Day celebration as a commemoration of a Chinese invader. He has also questioned Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the banned ULFA (I) as to why they regularly celebrate the Chinese invader. Taking serious note of the tweet, a local BJP sympathizer and medical practitioner, Dr Bhaskar Jyoti Gogoi today lodged a complaint with the police and demanded strict action against the person under relevant sections of the law. The complainant said that Chatterjee through his tweet has referred to Swargadeo Sukapha as a Chinese invader saying this is neither true nor acceptable.
