Complaint against teachers of Tripura school

AGARTALA, Aug 30 - A complaint has been lodged against the principal and two teachers of a private school, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, accusing them of humiliating a Class XII student here, the police said today.

In the complaint, Dilip Saha, the father of student Dibakar Saha, has accused principal Swapna Som and assistant teachers Rupam Roy and Tiya Nag of humiliating his son in the name of discipline inside the school premises.

�Police have received a complaint against the principal and two teachers of the school for humiliating Dibakar Saha that prompted him to attempt to commit suicide in the school premises,� said AIG (Law and Order) Smriti Ranjan Das.

Dibakar�s father complained how his 18-year-old son was punished and humiliated.

Meanwhile, sensing trouble, the principal and the two teachers have been sent on compulsory leave by the school authorities.

The Class XII student was allegedly humiliated by the teachers as he was reportedly in love with a Class X girl student of the school.

Shocked by the humiliation, the student tried to commit suicide by jumping off a roof of the school on Monday.

Classes in the school have also been suspended till September 3 in the aftermath of the incident.
