AIZAWL, Sept 19 - The Aizawl District Legal Services Authority today awarded compensation to the victims of crimes in the district under the Mizoram Victim Crime Compensation Scheme, 2011.
An amount of Rs 88.75 lakh was distributed among 25 victims, including 19 minors, official sources said. The compensation was distributed by R Thanga, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority at a function chaired by Senior Civil Judge-cum-Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Sylvie Zomuanpuii Ralte.
A total of 52 victims of crimes have been compensated under the scheme so far. The Mizoram Victims Crime Compensation Scheme, 2011 enables victims of crimes to apply for compensation.
