Company involved in Majuli bridge construction blacklisted!

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 16 - On the directions of the Chief Minister, the Public Works Department (NH) has terminated the contract of M/s Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited on the ground of non-performance and blacklisted the company on allegation of reported forgery involving a project to connect Majuli with Jorhat and Lakhimpur through a bridge.

It may be noted that in line with the State Governments decision to construct a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Majuli, the worlds largest inhabited river island with Jorhat and North Lakhimpur, the State Government awarded contract to M/s Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited and M/s Yooshin Engineering Corporation of South Korea in January 2017 to carry out a survey to prepare DPR of the project.

However, M/s Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited could not make any headway towards preparation of the DPR. Moreover, M/s Yooshin Engineering Corporation of South Korea alleged that M/s Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited forged its signature to show its participation in the project.

In view of this development, the PWD (NH) terminated the contract with M/s Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited and filed a complaint with Chandmari Police Station to inquire into the forgery case. The PWD (NH) also floated fresh tender to take the project further.

The proposed bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Majuli with neighbouring districts will be 110-km long and will be connecting Disangmukh in Sivasagar, Tekeliphuta in Lakhimpur and Nimatighat in Jorhat district.
