DOOMDOOMA, Dec 29 - For the smooth conduct of the HSLC examination, 2018, which will get under way from February 16 next year, three centre committees of three centres of Doomdooma � Doomdooma-A, Doomdooma-B and Doomdooma-C � were formed in three public meetings organised recently.
For Doomdooma-A centre, the centre committee was formed with retired subject teacher of Hoonlal HS School, Prasad Sonowal, as the president and the principal of the school, Seema Choudhury, as the secretary.
For Doomdooma-B centre, the centre committee was formed with retired headmistress of Doomdooma Girls� High School, Pratibha Sharma, as the president, and the headmistress of the school, Bimala Baruah, as secretary.
For Doomdooma-C centre, the centre committee was formed with retired principal of Doomdooma College, Dr Prafulla Medhi, as the president and the headmaster of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya, Prabeen Mazumder, as the secretary.
Foundation day: The 70th foundation day of Assam Tea Tribes Students� Association (ATTSA) was observed centrally at Chapakhowa in Sadiya on Thursday. The programmes started with a marathon race.
Later, the ATTSA flag was hoisted by its president, Rajen Kumar. Later, the general secretary of the body, Paban Bedia, initiated the smriti tarpan. A drawing competition was organised among the students on the occasion.
A cultural procession was also taken out to mark the occasion, followed by an open session which was chaired by Rajen Kumar. The president of the reception committee, Manoj Dhanowar, delivered the welcome address. Dr Haragovinda Borkakoti, principal of Sadiya College, released a souvenir published on the occasion.
Dr Pallavi Deka Bujarbaruah, Reader of the Department of Assamese, Dibrugarh University; Arunjyoti Moran, president of All Moran Students� Union; Udayshankar Mohan, president of All Assam Matak Youth Sanmilan; and Durga Konwar, working president of All Tai Ahom Students� Union, addressed the open session as guests.
The open session was also attended by Lokeshwar Kurmi, former president of ATTSA; Atuwa Munda, former general secretary of the student body and former minister; Durga Bhumij, MLA of Doomdooma; and Sanjay Kishan, former general secretary and Tinsukia MLA, as guests of honour, among others.
