Cold condition in NE may continue

GUWAHATI, Jan 29 - The prevailing cold weather condition in the Northeastern region is expected to last for two to three days more.

Sources in the Borjhar-based Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) told this newspaper that under the impact of the northwesterly cold continental wind, which is blowing from the Gangetic plains during the past three to four days, the region is facing a cold weather condition. However, the point of solace is that the minimum temperature will maintain a gradual rising trend in the region during the coming days, sources said.

Guwahati today recorded a maximum temperature of 23.4 degree Celsius, which was below 1.2 degree Celsius of its normal maximum temperature. The city recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degree Celsius today. This was 2 degree Celsius below its normal minimum temperature.

Dibrugarh today recorded a maximum temperature of 23 degree Celsius, which was 0.8 degree Celsius below its normal maximum temperature. It today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6 degree Celsius, which was 0.7 degree Celsius below its normal minimum temperature.

Silchar recorded a maximum temperature of 23.5 degree Celsius today (1.7 degree Celsius below normal). This south Assam town recorded a minimum temperature of 8.1 degree Celsius (4.4 degree Celsius below normal).

Shillong recorded a maximum temperature of 13.9 degree Celsius (1.6 degree below normal). The Meghalaya capital recorded a minimum temperature of 0.7 degree Celsius (5.7 degree below normal).

Sohra (Cherrapunjee) recorded a maximum temperature of 15.5 degree Celsius (below 1 degree Celsius). It recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degree Celsius (4.2 degree below normal).

Imphal today recorded a maximum temperature of 21.2 degree Celsius (1.6 degree below normal). It recorded a minimum temperature of 2.3 degree Celsius (2.7 degree below normal), said the RMC weather bulletin today.
