CM�s vigilance team arrives in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Aug 22 - Sleuths from the Chief Minister�s Vigilance probing the alleged financial scam under Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the previous Congress-led State government, arrived here today for a field enquiry.

The scam which relates to publicity by advertising in print and electronic media and showing hoardings in various locations of the �Vision Assam Mission Assam� project of the previous government, amounts to about Rs 31crore.

The Chief Minister�s Vigilance team led by Binoy Kumar Barman today searched for the available documents of �hoardings� used in the district at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. �As per record, some 93 hoardings of varying sizes were used for the publicity in the district and, accordingly, funds were released. Now whether funds were utilised properly will be investigated. A field enquiry will also be conducted,� Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Dutta told newsmen.
