CM�s tea tribes football tourney launched

GUWAHATI, Jan 17 - The Chief Minister�s Tea Tribes Football Tournament organised by the Tea Tribes Welfare Department of Assam was launched in a function held at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the championship while Labour and Employment, Tea Tribes Welfare Minister Pallab Lochan Das unveiled the jersey of the championship.

The tournament is organised for the betterment of the tea tribe youths. It is expected that this tournament, covering each and every tea garden and tea tribe inhabited areas of both the Barak and Brahmaputra valley will improve physical and mental abilities of the tea tribe youths, besides enhancing brotherhood and competitiveness among themselves.

Around 2000 teams from about 80 Assembly constituencies will vie for the title in the championship which will kick start simultaneously on January 20.

After completing the preliminary stage, district wise teams will be constituted with selected players and after completing the knock-out stage the final will be played on February 25.
