NEW DELHI, April 30 The man at the centre of the controversy over party infighting State Health and Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, tweeted on Monday that he may have sorted out the matter with Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi.
As I am leaving USA today, I talked with Chief Minister over phone to seek his advice, whether I need to clarify anything regarding ongoing controversy, he tweeted.
He (Chief Minister) told me that there is no need of any clarification from my side and adviced me to concentrate on my job. So no press conference on my arrival, Sarma let it be known.
Referring to the controversy, he said: some people are trying to know whether I am in the race for the Chief Ministers post. For me reform in education and health are the priority not CMs post.
With saline drip at hand last election, I campaigned and did everything my command to make Tarun Gogoi CM. Nobody should teach me loyalty, he said, hitting out at his rivals in the party.
During the election trail, we requested people to give mandate to Tarun Gogoi for next five years. Now we cannot go back from our words, he further clarified.
As a Congressman, if I get a chance to meet the Congress president, I feel proud. It is a rare honor and privilege for a small party worker like me, he said, referring to his meeting with the Congress president that triggered the entire controversy.
Factional feud has erupted in the ruling Congress following reports of a bid by a section of Congress ministers and MLAs to get rid of the Chief Minister by lobbying with the Party High Command to have him appointed as the next Vice President of the country.
