CM�s call for vigil against divisive forces

GUWAHATI, Dec 21 - No divisive force can affect the age-old unity and amity of the people of Assam, said Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.

According to an official press release here today, the Chief Minister, who was taking part at a prayer meeting held for unity and amity and global peace under the aegis of the Greater Guwahati Jalsa Committee at the Islampur Idgah Ground here yesterday, also underscored the need to remain ever vigilant against divisive forces.

He asserted his belief that the ideals of Srimanta Sankardeva and Ajan Fakir would help the people of the State resist all such forces. He also maintained that tolerance is the essence of every religion. The aim of every religion is to bring about welfare of the common people.

The function was attended, among others, by Greater Guwahati Jalsa Committee president Nekibur Zaman, Hafiz Karri Moulana Saleh Ahmed, Pire Kamil Alhaj Hazrat Moulana Yah Ya and Hazarat Moulana Tayeb Ahmed Quasimi.
