SHILLONG, June 6 Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary said students of the Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) University must look elsewhere to further their career after getting their fee refunded, with interest, from the now shut University.
Interacting with the media at the sidelines of a function, the Governor said, the students of the University must move on and try getting themselves enrolled in some other University. He, however, said that it is unfortunate that the students have to take this recourse at this juncture of their career.
The students of the University have set June 6 as the deadline to the Government to decide about their future. It is unclear how many students are actually enrolled in the University.
The State Education department, meanwhile, has asked the students to contact a specified cell from tomorrow with all their documents so that an alternative solution could be arrived at. A private University has also expressed its willingness to help the students.
Mooshahary has justified the decision to crack the whip saying nobody is above the law and CMJ University has violated set rules. It is now becoming increasingly clear that the University was awarding PhD and other degrees at will.
