CM wants PCCF office at KNP

GUWAHATI, June 3 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today directed the Forest Department to set up a permanent office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) near the Kaziranga National Park.

Sonowal, who had a meeting with departmental officials last evening, also directed the officials to prepare a plan for collecting forest revenue worth Rs 1,000 crore during the current fiscal. He further directed the department to sell online the stocks of timber in forest beat offices across the State.

The Chief Minister also laid emphasis on preparing a massive afforestation plan and conduct large-scale awareness drives among students and communities.
