CM urges voters not to panic on NRC issue

BONGAIGAON, April 20 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal addressed a poll campaign meeting in Abhayapuri South assembly segment in Bongaigaon district today, where he asked the voters to vote for Kumar Deepak Das, the alliance candidate of BJP and AGP in Barpeta Parliamentary seat.

Sonowal also asked the voters not to panic on the National Register of Citizens update process as his party and government will not allow any genuine citizen of the country to suffer in the name of NRC.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and the party in-charge of Assam, Harish Rawat told the media today that he had received grievances of a large section of people against the BTC and its rulers. The next Congress government will take action against the BTC rulers to protect the rights of marginalised sections living in the BTAD, he added.

Rawat campaigned for Congress candidate for Kokrajhar seat, Sabda Ram Rabha in Chirang district and the Congress candidate for Barpeta seat Abdul Khaleque in Bongaigaon district.

United People�s Party Liberal (UPPL) candidate UG Brahma addressed a mammoth rally at Bijni in Chirang district today and expressed confidence of winning the Kokrajhar seat from where he has been projected as an AIUDF-UPPL alliance candidate supported by ABSU and NDFB (P).
