CM urges Modi to intervene in Borahs appointment

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, June 30 Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene to clear the last-minute hitch for Rupshikha Borahs appointment as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the Oil India Limited.

In a statement, Chief Minister Gogoi said that when the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had recommended Borahs name for the top post of the OIL, the last-minute glitch was tantamount to denial of justice.

He further said that after Borah was found qualified and competent for the top post by the competent authority, the delay in her appointment was uncalled for. He also said it would be an injustice to the woman fraternity in particular and Assam as a whole if Rupshikha Borah were to be finally denied the unique feat to be the first woman to hold the CMDs post in the oil and gas exploration industry.
