GUWAHATI, June 25 � The All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today alleged that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is trying to derail the update process of National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The AASU leadership today slammed Gogoi for demanding update of the NRC on the basis of the electoral roll and termed the move as anti-Assamese.
�Gogoi�s demand is a threat to Assam and the country as a whole. It is a conspiracy to include names of Bangladeshis in the NRC,� Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya told mediapersons today.
He said Gogoi�s demand clearly reflects his indifferent attitude towards the indigenous people of the State and his demand is purely political and against the nation�s interest.
