GUWAHATI, July 26 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will unveil the statue of the venerated 19th century Italian Roman Catholic priest, Saint John Bosco, at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Hall junction located on the western bank of the Dighalipukhuri at 9.30 am on August 8 to mark the bicentenary birth year (1815-2015) of the great educator-saint.
As a precursor to the main event of August 8, Salesian Provincial of Guwahati Fr VM Thomas presented a miniature statue of the saint to Chief Minister Gogoi on July 23.
The State government had accorded permission to install the statue of the great saint � popularly known as the �friend of the youth� � in the city, in recognition of the services of Don Bosco and his followers in the field of education and socio-economic uplift of the underprivileged youths in the North-east over the years.
