CM to rejoin office on Sept 13

NEW DELHI, Sept 7 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is likely to formally resume official works on September 13, after arriving in the State on September 10, it was officially stated here today.

Amidst unprecedented restrictions on visitors, the Chief Minister, who is undergoing physiotherapy, met only sessions, a handful of visitors today.

In the morning hours, Gogoi met ex-MP and family friend Begum Noor Bano. The other visitor was State Minister Rockybul Hussain. In the evening, the Chief Minister was scheduled to hold a closed door meeting with State PCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita.

The meeting assumes significance because of the pending election of the State PCC president of the party. So far, no candidate has come forward, thus brightening the prospects of Kalita being re-elected for the third consecutive term.

However, Gogoi�s blessings are essential and vital, as the State goes to Assembly polls early next year.

Though there was no word, the Chief Minister might call on Congress president Sonia Gandhi before he leaves for Assam, ostensibly to greet her on her re-election as the Congress president and to discuss party matters.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is presently undergoing exercise and physiotherapy sessions. The Chief Minister is accompanied by three nurses and a physiotherapist from Mumbai. This specialised team of experts is going to fly with the Chief Minister to Assam and help him with his exercise routine.

Attending doctors not willing to take chances has stationed an ambulance at the Chief Minister�s residence since his arrival in the national capital.

Meanwhile, briefing newsmen, his media adviser Debo Bora said that the Chief Minister is slated to go back to Assam on Friday and after the weekend, is going to formally assume his charges on September 13. Gogoi had given charge to Dr Bhumidhar Barman before he left for Mumbai for his cardiac surgery.

Bora further said that the Chief Minister has extended greetings for the Eid festival, slated to be celebrated on Saturday.
