CM takes stock of COVID-19 preparedness in Sadiya subdivision

CHAPAKHOWA (SADIYA), April 23 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited Chapakhowa, the headquarter of Sadiya subdivision in Tinsukia district on Thursday afternoon. The Chief Minister held a review meeting at the conference hall of SDO(Civil) office, Sadiya on the preparedness to combat COVID-19 in Sadiya subdivision and took stock of the prevailing situation arising out of the nationwide lockdown.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by the MP of Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat Pradan Baruah, Sadiya MLA Bolin Chetia, Digboi MLA Suren Phukan and Tingkhong MLA Bimal Bora.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister collected ground report from various departments. He also took stock of availability of foodgrains in the subdivision.

Sonowal instructed the administration to keep the public distribution system smooth and transparent and to ensure that no person living below the poverty line should suffer any hardship during this crisis.

The Chief Minister also suggested the local administration to look after the problems of the farmers and to make necessary arrangements of transportation of perishable Agri products to the local markets and if required to outside the district.

Sonowal also directed the Health department officials to keep all records pertaining to COVID-19 preparedness in the subdivision as well as in the district.

Besides, the heads of all line departments, the meeting was also attended by Tinsukia DC Bhaskar Pegu, DIG (NER), Tinsukia Jitmol Doley, Tinsukia SP Siladitya Chetia, SP of Sadiya Police District BL Meena, SDO(Civil) Sadiya Shyamal Khetra Gogoi, SDO(Civil) Margherita Dibakar Nath and other senior police and civil officials of the district.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Sonowal said that the Health department of the State government had taken adequate measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic and, as a result of these measures, the COVID patients of the State had been coming round gradually. He expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the subdivisional administration of Sadiya in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic. He thanked the Health department personnel, police and the media for their leading role in fighting against the pandemic. He also thanked the people of the State for their support to the government in this fight.

While asked if the lockdown will be extended in the State , the Chief Minister said that in this regard the State government would follow the guidelines of the Centre.

The Mayamora Sanskritik Samaj of Tinsukia and Humijan Borgohain of Sadiya handed over a cheque of Rs 1,00,000 each to the Chief Minister for his relief fund. On the other hand, Uttar Sadiya Samabai Samity Ltd. donated Rs 20,000 and Paban Agarwal of Sadiya donated Rs 10,000 to the CM�s relief fund.
