GUWAHATI, Nov 2 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed concern over construction of a helipad on cricket pitches in Zhagrapara Stadium of Dhubri District Sports Association.
A team of Assam Cricket Association (ACA), led by secretary Devajit Saikia, CEO Sujit Kakati, BCCI curator Mukut Kalita along with a few senior cricketers visited the stadium on October 30 and were surprised to see a helipad being constructed with concrete and paver blocks on three pitches.
The ACA team apprised the Chief Minister about the development and urged him to take necessary action for removal of the helipad. Sonowal assured the ACA team of necessary action to dismantle the helipad.
The Chief Minister also assured the ACA delegation of restoring the damage caused to the cricket ground in order to bring it to its original condition. The Dhubri District Administration has already started the work. ACA president Romen Dutta and other officials expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for his initiative in removing the helipad from the ground, stated a release.
