CM seeks support from Warwick varsity

GUWAHATI, Feb 22 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has sought support from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom in setting up the Invention Council and Knowledge Commission. The Chief Minister placed the request in this regard before a delegation of the University that called on him at his Khanapara official residence here last night.

According to an official press release, the delegation discussed many issues that covered education, research, efficiency, construction etc topics. The University Warwick delegation was led by its Academic Director Prof Richard Dashwood.

During the meeting, the issues concerning the help that University can render to Assam in matters of education, inventive research, efficiency the related industry and trades and commerce came up.

The Chief Minister informed the Warwick delegation of the interlocking brick developed by some Lakhimpur youths with the application of indigenous technology and the micro-light propeller turbine developed by an engineer of Jorhat for micro-hydel projects in this respect. He sought help from the Warwick University in improving the quality of these indigenous technologies and in modernizing them.

The Chief Minister also told the delegation that the State Government has attached top most priority to the development of rural economy.

Prof Richard assured help to the State in all such matters, said the press release.

Chief Minister�s investment advisor Ranjit Barthakur was also present during the discussion.
