CM reviews facilities at Tezpur Medical College Hospital

TEZPUR, March 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday visited the Tezpur Medical College Hospital to review the facilities available at the isolation ward set up there.

Sonowal accompanied by Borsola MLA Ganesh Limboo, Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das, Dhekiajuli MLA Ashok Singhal, Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner Manavendra Pratap Singh, TMCH Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Dr Karuna Hazarika held a meeting with the doctors of TMCH and asked them to be prepared for any situation dealing with a large load of COVID-19 patients.

He said the government is taking all kinds of measures to stop the spread of the disease, looking at the lessons learnt from other states. He appealed to the doctors to sincerely carry out their regular activities and remain alert to provide support to outside hospitals if and when necessary.

Sonowal also asked the doctors to keep themselves updated with the latest research being done in this field and strictly follow the treatment protocol issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

He also asked the TMCH authorities to train the medical, para-medical staff and take steps to decongest the TMCH to the extent possible.

Later, he also addressed a press meet and stated that government is stressing on the availability of the essential goods for the people.

�During the 21-day lockdown promulgated across the country to combat coronavirus, all 24-hour services like food and civil supplies and medical services, safe drinking water, electricity etc., will be available for the public,� Sonowal mentioned adding all districts have been instructed to monitor the availability of essential goods.

Expressing his gratitude towards the Press, medical teams and the Police administration for their contribution towards the fight against the dreaded COVID-19, he also urged all sections of the society to cooperate at this crucial time.

Stating that government has not banned circulation of newspapers, he said that an unscrupulous section has spread a rumour that through newspapers, the virus is spreading.

Urging all section of the society not to misbehave with the people involved in the essential services including the Press and medical teams, the Chief Minister said that the present situation is a big challenge for the government and a common effort is an urgent need of the time to overcome the situation.
