CM reviews COVID-19 measures at Golaghat

DERGAON, March 28 - �The spread of coronavirus is becoming a global threat and the only solution for this is awareness. Social distancing is the key solution for this dreaded pandemic,� Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while he took stock of the current situation at Golaghat on Saturday.

He urged all to obey the 21-day lockdown called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for combating COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

Through his speech, the CM said that the State government was taking all possible measures to make available the essential items for the people during the lockdown period.

Citing the dedication of police and medical staff, the CM expressed serious concern that people pelt stones on police on duty and that type of activity would be viewed seriously.

He also urged journalists to extend their valuable service to the society that would help the government in discharging its duty.

Reviewing the measures taken up by the Golaghat district administration, the CM urged all to be more dedicated to fight against such a global threat.

Stating the preparedness of the Health department, the CM said that the department was quite ready to face any tough situation, but people must follow government instructions in true spirit.

He also said that five sophisticated hospitals would be built for coronavirus treatment.

The CM was apprised of the measures taken up by the district administration regarding coronavirus preparedness by Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Chandra Modi through a power-point presentation.

Earlier, CM visited Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital where he took stock of the current arrangements at isolation chambers and quarantine halls.
