CM presents cheque of Rs 10 lakh to Ankushita

GUWAHATI, Dec 4 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to champion boxer Ankushita Boro in a function held in the Chief Minister�s Conference Room at Janata Bhawan.

Ankushita clinched the gold medal in the 64kg category of the recently held AIBA Youth Women�s World Boxing Championship here. She was also adjudged the best boxer in the championship.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, �Assam has tremendous potentiality in the field of sports and games. The government will provide all possible help to the talented sporting youngsters in honing their talent�.

He also assured to provide necessary assistance to boxer Minu Basumatary and Pwilao Basumatary who also won medals in AIBA championships earlier but failed to receive any recognition so far.

Sonowal advised Ankushita to work hard with perseverance to emerge as a disciplined sportsperson and win more medals in international and world championships and bring glory to Assam.

Minister of State for Sports Naba Kumar Doley, Chief Minister�s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Legal Adviser Santanu Bharali, Vice-Chairperson, Sports Authority of Assam Queen Ojah, Director of Sports Pabitra Ram Khaund were also present during the occasion.
