GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - �The youth population provides India an advantage over many other countries of the world. Our youths are full of ideas and innovation and there is a need to exploit their talent in the best possible manner to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s dream of making India a leader of the world.� Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while presenting awards to winning teams of the first Assam Police Hackathon 2020 at a function held at the Assam Administrative Staff College today.
The Assam Police Cyber Dome organised the hackathon at Special Branch Headquarters here from July to October to explore young minds and their ideas for solving day-to-day problems of society encountered by police through application of technology. The focus areas of the hackathon included controlling cyber crime, anti-trafficking of women and children, safety of women, old and infirm people, facial recognition software to track criminals, financial crimes, etc.
The hackathon drew more than 2.46 lakh responses with 2,286 individual registrations. Later 519 teams were formed and 246 teams submitted concept notes. A total of 139 teams were shortlisted and 72 made their final submissions. A team of experts selected Team Agada from Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Tamil Nadu; Team CodeBluff from Walchand College, Maharashtra and Team Cyberon from Amal Jyoti College of Engineering, Kerala for the top three spots.
Team Agada developed a software �Shecure�, a smart solution for women�s safety; Team CodeBluff developed �Stockbook�, a user friendly inventory management application available in multiple languages. Team Cyberon developed �Snimoz� to track vehicles passing between two points. The first three award winning teams won cash rewards of Rs 1.50 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively besides mementoes and certificates.
