CM pays tributes to slain jawans

TEZPUR, June 6 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today paid rich tribute to slain Assam Rifles jawan Kalidas Sarma, who was killed in an ambush in Nagaland at his residence in Berajan in Sonitpur district. The Chief Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh to the father of the jawan. Member of Parliament from Tezpur, Pallab Lochan Das, Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika, Borsola MLA Ganesh Limboo, Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar, Chairman, ATPPCL, Rajen Borthakur and Vice-Chairman, AMTRON, Ritubaran Sarmah were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Sonowal while paying tributes to the soldier said, �The State is proud of the unparallel sacrifice, patriotism and sense of dutifulness of the jawans�. He also asserted that the onslaught against insurgency would continue as the people of the country have extended support to the unconditional tirade announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against militancy.

Biswanath Chariali Correspondent adds: Chief Minister also visited the residence of slain jawan belonging to SSB at Kauri Pothar in Biswanath district and paid floral tributes.

While spending time with the parents of Neeraj Chetry, who was killed in Jarkhand on June 1, Sonowal handed over a cheque worth Rs 20 lakh.
