CM offers Kati Bihu greetings to farmers

MANGALDAI, Oct 17 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday evening took part in the ceremonial observation of Kati Bihu festival in Mangaldai of Darrang district, organised for the first time by the government. Chief Minister as the chief guest lit the ceremonial lamp in a traditional manner on the occasion at �Monpur Pothar� of Bamunpara near here. Immediately after the Chief Minister ceremonially lit the lamp, the entire paddy field was illuminated with several hundreds of traditional lamps. It was followed by lighting of traditional �Akash Banti�.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister offered Kati Bihu greetings to the farmers of the State and highlighted the role of the present BJP-led governments, both at the State and the Centre.

Chief Minister was also accompanied by State BJP president Ranjeet Dass, Irrigation Minister Bhabesh Kalita, Mangaldai MP and BJP�s national general secretary Dilip Saikia, chairman of ATDC Jayanta Malla Baruah and both the BJP legislators of the district, Gurujyoti Das and Binanda Kr Saikia, among others.
