GUWAHATI, Jan 27 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has placed a request with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to erect a statue of Swargadeo Siu-Ka-Pha at a proper place in New Delhi considering his contributions towards nation building.
According to official sources here, Gogoi, in a letter to Dikshit yesterday, described Siu-Ka-Pha as a great visionary leader, who pursued a policy of tolerance and peaceful co-existence amidst diversity. This policy of his is still relevant and worthy to be emulated, Gogoi said in his letter.
He reminded the Delhi Chief Minister of an Assam Government proposal sent to the Delhi Government in this connection.
Gogoi also spoke to the Dikshit over phone on the issue.
