CM lays stress on police-public relations

GOALPARA, Aug 20 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has underscored the need for improving police-public relations in the State.

Addressing a meeting in Dudhnoi on Wednesday, the Chief Minister informed that the State government has taken a number of steps for modernization of the police force to meet the growing challenges.

He said that Mission of Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image (MOITRI) was introduced with an eye to provide a police-friendly environment with a modern and human approach towards citizens and to reduce the gap between police and citizens by providing various facilities inside the police building.

�The police department should set an example for others and work with sincerity and dedication to become one of the best police forces in the country,� he said, and appealed to the people to extend help to the government in marching forward.

Dudhnoi MLA Dipak Rabha, RHAC CEM Tankeswar Rabha, IG (law and order) GP Singh, MLAs Bimal Bora and Shahbuddin Ahmed, State Minority Development Council Director Syed Mominul Awal, DIG (western range) Raunak Ali Hazarika, Assam Police Housing Corporation director Arabinda Kalita, were present. In the meeting, weaver Binapani Koch and progressive farmer Chanai C Basumatary were felicitated.
