By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 18 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said only clean thoughts can result in clean deeds. He was speaking on the occasion of launching the Swacchta Hi Seva campaign in the State at Geeta Mandir here, which was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in association with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) yesterday.

Sonowal urged the young generation to commit themselves to the cause of protecting the environment and practice cleanliness in their day to day lives.

The fortnight-long Swachhta Hi Seva campaign aims at highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modis flagship programme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and create an environment of cleanliness in the entire country so that October 2, 2017, which is going to be the third anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission along with the Gandhi Jayanti, can be celebrated in a befitting manner.

Together we should make the effort to clean our houses, public places, villages and cities. We must take out some time each day for devoting to cleanliness of our surroundings. When the society joins hands with the government, then only we can have a clean India that Mahatma Gandhi envisioned, Sonowal added.

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to protecting the natural beauty of the State and its ecosystem and for that several measures have been taken.
