GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today termed the youth of the Northeast as drivers to propel the region�s growth engine for the country�s overall development.
Launching the Assam Youth Forum in presence of writer Chetan Bhagat at the Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here today, Sonowal categorically said in order to materialise Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s dream to turn the Northeast as the engine for the country�s growth, the youths of the region will have to play a catalytic role.
�Assam has rich human resources, mainly youth. We are committed to channelise the youth�s energy to put the State as well as the country into a high growth trajectory,� Sonowal added.
He also informed that the State government has been taking several steps to empower the youth of the State. Terming the North-east as the gateway to the South-east Asia, he also called upon the youth to embrace more responsibility to transform the region into a new growth engine.
Terming Assam as a State which has encapsulated in miniature the characteristics of a multi-cultural society in its unique way, Sonowal said, �Diversity is our strength and in order to make Assam stronger, we have to work together,� adding, �bond of friendship, unity and integrity are our values and we have to maintain these values to make our society stronger and make Assam shine.�
He also hoped that the Youth Forum turned out to be a positive stimulus to young members of the society.
