CM launches �Maram�, �Mamata� schemes

GUWAHATI, April 27 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today formally launched two new ambitious schemes of the Health Department � �Maram� and �Mamata�. He also flagged off 70 ambulances for the tea gardens of the State under the National Rural Health Mission.

An official release said that under the �Maram� scheme, the patients who get admitted to the general wards of the medical college hospitals will get an amount of Rs 75 per day for a period of seven days, while the patients who are admitted in the district hospitals will get Rs 50 per day for five days and those admitted in the subdivisional hospitals will get Rs 30 per day for five days.

The release said that under the �Mamata� scheme, the babies born in Government hospitals would be given gifts of powder, towel, mosquito net, blanket, oil cloth, etc. However, the mother would have to stay in the hospital for 48 hours after delivery of the newborn to become eligible for the gifts under the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Government has given thrust on education and health sectors for the benefit of all sections of people of the State. He hoped that the new schemes of the Health department would be beneficial for the poor sections of the society.

Gogoi also announced the Government�s decision to appoint one thousand multipurpose workers in the health sub- centres of the State, the release said.
