GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - In a move to inculcate scientific temperament among students, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today inaugurated an Atal Tinkering Lab at Sanskriti The Gurukul here today.
Atal Tinkering Lab is an approach of the Central government to create an environment of innovation, creativity amongst the students. The Government of India has allocated financial support in the form of grant-in-aid for establishing the Atal Tinkering Lab, an initiative of NITI Aayog.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said Atal Tinkering Lab which aims to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination among the students, will encourage young minds to imbibe a scientific temperament. He said that the lab will further empower the students to find innovative solutions to the problems faced by society.
The Chief Minister further said that, considering the potentials of Assam and other north-eastern states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recognised Assam as the new engine of growth.
Sonowal urged the student community to work hard and take the State to greater heights. He also asked the teaching fraternity of Sanskriti The Gurukul to use the lab to help the students imbibe imagination and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, etc.
He also asked the school authority to enable the students of all government and private schools in the vicinity of Sanskriti The Gurukul to use the facilities of Atal Tinkering Lab.
Sonowal also interacted with the students and witnessed their innovative projects in the lab.
Principal of the school Ajanita Hazarika, secretary Asutosh Agarwal, faculty members, management staff and school students were present on the occasion.
